Sustainable Transport
We know that transport can be a significant economic cost to business, we also know that transport can have serious consequences on the environment. Reducing single occupancy car trips by eliminating unnecessary travel and choosing more sustainable modes of transport can have a positive effect on the environment and your business. Reducing trip demand can reduce transport costs (fleet purchase and maintenance costs, fuel costs, time costs for travel) and parking costs (customer and staff parking and land cost assigned to car parking). Using sustainable transport, particularly walking and cycling, can have a positive impact on the physical and mental health of your staff and reduce absenteeism.
It is important to acknowledge that every business and workplace is different (different size, location, staff, products/services). However, most businesses have one thing in common. They are a trip destination. That is, the business location (office/shop/warehouse etc) is a destination for staff, customers and visitors.
