This guide is to educate businesses about their obligations regarding environmental claims under the Trade Practices Act 1974. It aims to assist manufacturers, suppliers, advertisers and others to assess the strength of any environmental claims they make and to improve the accuracy and usefulness to consumers of their labelling, packaging and advertising.
Support program to target business water use
Following the launch of the “T155″ campaign, which urges Melburnians to reduce average residential consumption to less than 155 litres per person per day, a support program has been developed to encourage business to further cut water usage.
The Support 155 Business Program is aimed at business customers that use less than 10 million litres of water a year and encourages these businesses to assess their water use and develop actions to use water more efficiently around the workplace.
Business customers will be asked to demonstrate their commitment to saving water by registering for the program on Yarra Valley Water’s website http://www.yvw.com.au/ and they will then be provided with a resource kit that contains a range of materials to help them reduce their water usage.
Tony Kelly, Yarra Valley Water Managing Director and Industry Spokesperson for Restrictions, said the Support 155 Business Program would help to ensure industry and households were continuing to work together to secure Melbourne’s water supplies.
