Small Business Mentors Prove Helpful for Local Businesses
Megan Reeve, trained as a harpist, has always been interested in pursuing her musical talent as a career choice. She has been performing professionally for more than 15 years, teaches aspiring harpists and her passion has now progressed into a business, Melbourne Harp Music.
In 2009, Ms Reeve was attracted to the Small Business Mentoring Service (SBMS) sessions hosted by Whitehorse Council. These sessions provided her with the opportunity to gain free advice and information in regards to the marketing and financial aspects of her business. SBMS is a non-profit organisation aligned with the Government’s Small Business Victoria.
Ms Reeve found the sessions helpful in that they ‘definitely helped me out with the financial side of things – it can now run more smoothly,’ she said. ‘It was absolutely worthwhile’.
Whitehorse City Council is offering businesses a free 45-minute one-on-one business mentoring session in marketing and/or finance at the Civic Centre in Nunawading.
For more information or to book a session phone Council’s Business and Economic Development Unit on 9262 6105.
