Businesses Embracing Fair Trade
Greenlink Nursery – giving it a fair go
Greenlink Nursery is a community nursery which has been in operation since 1988 and currently has 40 staff members, most of whom are volunteers.
Greenlink Nursery aims to encourage and assist the planting of suitable indigenous plants in private gardens and to educate the community on the importance and appropriateness of regenerating the natural environment.
Greenlink has been undertaking sustainable practices within the day to day operation of the nursery and were eager to introduce and take advantage of the fair trade morning tea that was offered by Whitehorse City Council during Fair Trade Fortnight 2011.
Being in a similar industry of growing products, Greenlink nursery have said that in the future they will be buying fair-trade products as it will benefit their staff and organisation by making them feel better about the products they consume, knowing it is helping to ensure that the growers and the environment are profiting from the fair sale of these products.
Greenlink recommends that other organisations get behind Fair Trade products and trial a morning tea using these Fair Trade goods.
Sales to the public are 9.00am-12.00noon every Tuesday and Wednesday.
