The Whitehorse Business Safety and Security Expo is an evening event for small to medium sized businesses, including franchisees, that will showcase products and best practice to promote business safety and security. Brought to you by Whitehorse City Council and Victoria Police, participants will enjoy stimulating and informative guest speakers accompanied by a light dinner.
- John Silvester, Crime Journalist and Author
John has been a crime journalist in Melbourne and overseas since 1979. He has
witten or co-authored several crime books including of course, the best-selling
Underbelly series. John has been highly recommended in the Walkley, Quill
and the Graham Perkin Journalist of the Year Awards. In 1993 he joined
the Melbourne Age as Law and Crime Editor.
- Detective Sergeant Scott Dwyer, Eastern Region Crime Squad, Victoria Police
Scott is currently the Acting OIC of the Eastern Region Crime Squad.
He is the former OIC of the Box Hill Embona Armed Robbery Taskforce.
Victoria Police have been working with numerous key stakeholders subject
to high risk crime such as armed robbery and commercial burglary;
these stakeholders have implemented a number of anti-theft processes
that have proven highly successful to apprehend offenders
and reduce crime. Detective Sergeant Dwyer was presented the
Mick Miller Detective of the Year Award recently for his tireless
work in this area. When presenting the award, Crime Command Assistant
Commissioner Steve Fontana said: "Detective Sergeant Dwyer's exceptional
investigative skills, ability and willingness to think outside the square
have resulted in ensuring a safer Victoria.
